I have not had crashing issues other have reported with opening and closing the application while active.
However after the numerous postings on the the 1.0.3.9 version. I decided to throw my hat in the ring and download it for testing. Mainly because of CPU usage problems with several previous versions and animations ending early.
At first I though the problems with CPU usage were solved. VGHD ran smoothly using only 24-38% of the CPU for about 15 shows, then it jumped up to 65-75% for 4 or 5 shows which began to slow down the animations. Going as high as 85% which nearly stopped the animations. Then short played 15 animations in about a minute. Then jumped back up to 55-65% then for 3 or 4 shows then back down to 35-40%.
I have just downloaded the latest Beta 1.0.4.1, will post back after 20 shows.

I have VG enabled since some time now with music enabled too.
No problems, all runs smoothly. I agree with VirtualPad that the startup is the critical point. If it doesn't crash there it will keep on going;-)
Also tried the magnifying glas. Looks much better now. In previous versions my PC(a quadcore) began to stutter when i actived it and the show got quite slow. This behaviour is gone now.

VirtualPad, do you have XP or Vista?
I just tried your list of steps exactly, give or take a second somewhere.
I have Vista. I had no problems anywhere along the line (not like you are reporting).
However, the "Full Collection" took many seconds to load. I actually waited for it to finish before clicking the "My Collection" again.
Also, I can report that the program did NOT remember the last position of the program after closing. It did remember the size and location, just not position.
(location refers to page, tab, or whatever you want to call it, such as "My Collection" and "Full Collection".)

I just closed and reopened vghd (just to test something) and again it failed to remember the last position on the screen. Has anyone else noticed this?

yes @JonC001 you are right it doesn't remember the position. I moved it to the right before quitting and it was in the center after restarting.

Is the magnifying glass image supposed to be on top of the girl or behind? For me it is behind. I realize that the image is either to the left or right of the girl when you are showing parts of her. But there are times when the girl overlays the magnified image (especially when she is lying down with a horizontal view). Should the magnified always be on top of the girl?

I just noticed a problem that others have mentioned but I have overlooked (or not seen) until now.
Someone mentioned that the vghd window does not retain its full size when switching from "My Collection" to one of the settings and back.
This is true for me as well.
I had the collection set to eight cards across, closed vghd, reopened it, opened the options, and it was the same.
I immediately went to one of the settings, then closed vghd. Next time I opened vghd and opened options, the "My Collection" was back to six cards across.

Really? Again?
We're all adults here and have participated in plenty of forums (although I'm beginning to wonder). It's easier just to ignore what you don't like in these forums then to pull out your fire extinguisher and try to put out all the flamers.
For those that like to hammer out your personal issues here in the forums, just because you type it doesn't mean we care. Mods included. Thats what PM wars were made for.
For Pete Sake! Keep the forums about VGHD and related content!

@up
This will not help because additional clips are only bonus to new quality of shows. So the best way is delete and download again needed show. Now quality of Jana H - Californian Suit is pretty good :) Before all files had only about 240mb now it is 360mb. So Totem if its possible could you make a kind of list where you will put information about renewed shows :P

OK, for me installs fine, it seems to run the animations well and I see no visble problems with them.
On the My Collections tab, though even after it finishes updating some cards do not show (see screen shot).
Also when I click on the download button under a card, nothing seems to happen. I have all the auto downloads turned off on the main PC.
PS:
Its workin on that damned laptop of mine, including the screen saver AND the manual downloads.....
WELL DONE

VirtualPad, are you talking about something like this screenshot? (please view)
I had to go and look for an animation that was likely to overlap the magnified image. The first one I found was not good: a nude image of Ariel. Almost after that, a topless Ariel. I finally found one of Ariel non-nude. (I also tried Alizee).
(I realize that I could have turned off all nudity but I did not want to do that just to post a non-nude image)

well i found out that you can get the magnifying glass on top when you change the display priority.
But normally its behind the girl which can be annoying if the girl is lying on the taskbar.

JonC,
Yes, that is what I'm talking about. I see that the magnified image falls behind the image of the animated girl for you too. But should it be that way? If it can be changed to be always be on top, that is the way it should be.
Here's a better example. You can't see hardly any of the magnified area.

VP from what I have seen, its always behind as displayed in the pics above and I have seen no option to change this.
So on that basis, I expect that its operating as intended, especially when you consider that the image is diaplay "to the side" of where the magnifying glass is. Preumeably not to cover the avtual animation.
This make sense to me.

In this screenshot you will see something even worse.
Of course, I did this on purpose.
I right-clicked on Claudia to get her superimposed over Jana H (who I specifically clicked to play) just to see how bad it can get.
Actually it can be even worse than that.
Prior to Claudia, another girl (Afrodite?) was out and was pretty much hogging that entire corner. There was a fairly large thing that covered the vghd girl almost completely.
(this post is NOT meant to be taken as a serious problem)

OK, the point I made in a number of posts above about reaching a level of abuse in a topic and multiple people involved and it being easier to just close the topic.
We have now hit that point and its closed.

I repeat myself by saying that the display priority also effects the magnifying glass. If you set it to regular window it is on top of the girl.
But that's not a good way to solve this of course.
Still as this magnifier is a gimmick i think it's ok as it is.

Well, after earlier saying all was fine, I had to switch back to the old version. This one wouldn't let me download the trailer to purchased shows because there is no longer a button to do so with. Normally, when I purchase a full show that I don't have the trailer to yet, I can later hit the button to download it too. In this version, there is no way included. Also, I don't know what it is with quite a few of of the last versions, but many of them for some reason keep damaging doing something wrong that requires me to re-download Jana H.'s Californian Suite card #167 everytime I change versions. That is one strange defect of many of the last versions. One of today's models didn't download right either and I had to try to delete it to re-download it, but it wouldn't do it right, so I restored the folders and then it was right for some reason. For now, I'd advise staying with the old version until they install the missing controls, such as "download trailer" and others, if any.

@Cartref,
I disagree that this makes sense. Obviously if you are using the magnifying glass that you want to look it and NOT the girl. Why else would you be looking at it?
@Starryk,
What do you mean "regular window" mode? How do you set that? I never heard of what you are talking about. Is that a feature of only your graphics card?

hm this was the second time now that a clip was about to begin and suddenly stopped and was replaced by another clip.
Strange.
@VirtualPad: Look at the screenshot to find out what i mean.

Sammi,
Titilate is right on this occassion in regards to the "etiquette" of the situation.
Creating topics unless there is a serious intent and I make no slight at your wanting to thank your friend, as the remainder of the community MUST fail tio understand the topic, it is a flawed topic.
On that basis alone, I am going to close it so that it will soon fade from the list of current topics.
if this offends, send me a PM and I will explain in greater detail
Cheers

@Starryk,
Ah ok! Thanks for letting me know. Makes sense that the setting in VGHD would put the girl behind. But you shouldn't have to rely on that to be able to use the magnifying glass effectively and without interference.

To report back...still having CPU issues with this new version. Seems like I get about 10-12 shows playing correctly, then the CPU usage for VGHD ramps up into the 70-80% range at which point animations begin to play slowly for 5 or 6 shows then back down to 25-30% for 3 or 4 shows, 3-8 short played shows (as @Starryk reported) then back up to 70-80% for 3 or 4 shows then back down again to normal usage until the cycle starts over again. Maybe it's my specs:
Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit
2.00 GHz Dual Core
2 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300
VGHD data stored on 500 GB external USB drive
Processor runs at 1-4% using 850 MB of RAM while computer is idle

I thought one could post about any and everything that is non vgirl related and I am failing to see why any topic here would be closed unless it was getting totally out of hand like some usually do.
Please correct me if I'm wrong here, I am just not understanding

The problem is Graybeard.... everything is controversial on here all of a sudden. It seems ANY topic is open for 0-hateful in about 10 minutes so the threads being closed down are well within the terms to be locked out. The way they are getting there is the problem. There is no reason for it or an answer for the issue. Not sure if you are being sarcastic to prove a point to the other folks like myself or questioning the other mods but I just assume WE are ALL wrong. Makes the pill easier to swallow.

i just worked a bit(saving images from the forum) while the shows were running (in small mode at 60% size) and i noticed multiple clips that finished abruptly. After checking one of these clips i can confirm it didn't play til the end.
Something seems to be able to cancel the clips while they're playing. Then another one starts. So it's not that easy to notice but the ammount of abrupt ends was to high for me.

Good question... Way back I was almost banned at another site just for saying hi to another member in a topic... "private messages should be sent via PM" was the apparent reason then...
Now, If someone want to open a topic that's totally irrelevant to any other member that should be OK as long as it is not in clear violation of the Terms and Conditions.
Just my 2 cents...

Once again, is there need for a new thread for this question?
My question is, have you firstly gone to the FAQ's and seen if i is covered there?
Secondly, have you searched and perused the past forums on various related topics to find your answer there? There is a wealth of information right here to be studied , especially by new memters like yourself.

Thank you guys, but it is OK, I had a PM conversation with Cartref and he explained why it was closed. I think, at least for me, I will stick to using this forum for questions specific to VGHD software. I have enough problems in RL, I cant do constant drama.
If I have personally offended anyone on this site, especially CV or any other moderator, I sincerely apologize. I sometimes forget that everyone has feelings, especially when I am in a self defense mindset.

though in general i agree, that many questions can be answered by studying the FAQ she is not the first user that still decides to ask in a new thread.
So i'm starting to believe you want to pick on Sammi Titilate which is not nice.
Please just leave her alone.
And please stop being the watchguard for what you think are necessary and unnecessary threads. You are not a mod and therefore that is not your job.

Hi Sammi.
First click on the "Screensaver" tab on the top menu. Then when you see the "Screensaver Settings" window, click the "active" box at the top left hand corner. You should then see a red tick in it. Then click on the "Advanced Settings" arrow at the bottom left hand corner, and make sure at least one of the nudity level options is ticked (or whatever combination of them you perfer). Then choose the screensaver type you prefer under "Selection"
Also make sure you have some cards active in your "My Collection" window.
If you want to see a preview, go back to "Screensaver settings" and click on "start now". Or just wait until your screensaver starts according to the delay time you have set in your windows display settings.
